Where We Are
The Parish of Deane covers a large area, not quite as big as it used to be. At one time St Mary's, Deane was the mother church of 22 smaller daughter churches. One by one, the daughter churches were given their own areas or parishes and so the Deane parish has shrunk.
The following is a list of new parishes formed out of the ancient parish of Deane, with the year of consecration, as given in the Manchester Diocesan Directory. The earliest were chapels-of-ease until the 19th century.
